Manila is a temple town in Uttarakhand. This little known place is the abode of Manila Devi, the family goddess of the Katyuri clan. Manila is at an altitude of 1820 m. Manila is in the Kumaon region about 87 km from Ranikhet. The word “Manila” literally means enchanting. The Devi temple here is the centre of attraction for all visitors to the place and holy to all the faithful locals. Manila is full of folklore.
The main temple is in the lower valley in the village. About 6 km from here on the upper reaches is another temple, where the hand of the goddess is supposedly placed, and is worshipped. The view of the forests which is spread from Sadar to Dotiyal, as well as the Himalayan Mountains dotting the horizon, is a treat to watch. It is a hill station; with an annual average temp of 20 deg (3 deg during winter and 25 deg during summer, it even snows in winters!).Nainital, Ranikhet (87kms) and Corbett National Park (81 kms) are the nearby famous tourist places.
